Maria's Shadow is a domestic thriller by DL Cary. If you enjoy books with powerful secret entities that keep dirt on all the players from elected officials to presidents of companies, then you are going to love this book.

We quickly meet a young woman from Mexico who thinks she is leaving her home for a better life. However, she finds herself part of a human trafficking ring - and pregnant. Despite a narrow escape, nothing is safe for Maria because the Saffron Veil has eyes and ears everywhere.

Detective John Jefferson and his FBI buddy, Special Agent Marcus Carter, find themselves embroiled in Maria's plight - and that of many others just like her. But like Maria, John and Marcus soon realize that whoever is behind the trafficking ring has people in high places - high enough to get them killed.
