Theo of Golden is a literary fiction by Allen Levi - and I really enjoyed the slow-paced, let's get to know one another vibe. Theo, a man who never reveals his full name, arrives in Golden for reasons he doesn't fully disclose. From the beginning, you know there is some mystery, but this novel is not a mystery. Instead, it is a look at a small town and its citizens.
Theo becomes transfixed with portraits drawn by a local artist and decides to purchase these and present them to what he says is the rightful owner - the person depicted in the drawing. Each time, he learns about the person and often ends up involved in their life. Before long, Theo is as much a part of Golden as residents who have lived there for years. And still, we know something more is going on. I loved Allen's depiction of the town, the river, and the people. When I closed the book, I felt as if I had new friends - and despite the weeks since finishing and the several books I've read since, I still wonder about these characters and what they might be up to now. I highly recommend this book! Purchase a copy of Theo of Golden: Paperback: https://amzn.to/49mBkLC Kindle: https://amzn.to/4eG5vRy *As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
