Thoughts of a Kingdom Citizen is a cross between a memoir and a spiritual self-help book by Yoel Ben Yisrael. I don't often read religious books for my podcast, but the author reached out so I decided to give it a try. Although I did enjoy what I read and it made me think, I decided it was more self-help than memoir and chose not to chat about it on the podcast. Nonetheless, for those who enjoy thinking deeply about religion and what it means to you, this might be a book you'd enjoy.
The main premise is that we should do more than practice religion. Instead, we should try to live under God's governance. I don't agree with all his suggestions, but I do believe we would all do better to live the way God wants while throwing away our self-seeking ways. And who wouldn't want a heaven on earth? If you don't mind challenging how you think about religion, this might be the book for you.
